We hold general meetings for all members, on the fourth Tuesday of every month at 2.30pm, except December. These provide opportunities to get together socially, to find out about different groups and their activities, to learn about forthcoming events, and to listen to a Speaker - and in the course of a year we have speakers that provide something of interest for everyone. We hold the general meetings at Shifnal Village Hall at 2.30pm: it offers space for all our members, with full disabled access. Check the Events page for more information on scheduled Speakers. If you would like to know more, then why not come to the next general meeting? If you have specific questions you can contact us on the Contact Us page. We hope you will decide to Join Us. You will be made very welcome.
The u3a is a charitable organisation for people who are no longer in full employment, and who wish to continue the pleasure of learning and sharing knowledge with other like-minded folk. The u3a was founded in France in 1973, and in the UK in 1981. Wrekin u3a was founded in 1991.
Each U3A branch is an autonomous charity and is run by its Volunteer members. Our membership is drawn from the rural towns and villages in and around the Telford and East Shropshire area. Our vision is to make lifelong learning, through the experience of U3A, a reality for all Third-Agers in the Wrekin locality.
We have groups catering for a wide range of interests - they are listed on our Groups page. We are always on the lookout for new ideas, so if you have an interest that we don’t yet cater for, then please do contact our Groups Co - ordinator especially if you would be willing to share your knowledge by helping to set up and/or lead a new group!

Networks in the u3a West Midlands Region
Many u3a groups meet together from time to time to exchange ideas and plan collaborations. These groups are called Networks or Clusters: there isn’t much difference! Not all Networks are active, but the historical groupings that formed Networks in the West Midlands are listed below. If they’re active, you can click on the link for more details. Please let your Trustee know if your Network has revived and we’ll add your details. It’s handy to have points of contact at least.
To encourage Networks to meet, your Trustee can pay for a Networking Lunch for local u3as to come together and find out if meeting regularly (typically twice a year) is useful for them. Ask your Trustee! It’s amazing what you find out when you get together – Group Leaders can be shared, u3as can join in to stage a u3a day event, and links between Treasurers, etc can form. Nationally, Network Link holds three online meetings a year and sends mailings. To stay up to date with everything Networks-related, Sign up for News for Network Mailings
